My research focusses on the neurobiology of pain, especially the neuronal circuitry of the spinal cord and medullary dorsal horns underlying chronic pain. I received a M.Sc. at the University of Bordeaux (France) and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the University of Auvergne (France). I did a postdoctoral training first with Dr. Rebecca Seal at the University of Pittsburgh (USA) and then with Pr. Radhouane Dallel at the University Clermont-Auvergne (France). I became a full researcher at the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm) in 2018.

Major contributions include 1) the investigation of the segmental circuit underlying static mechanical allodynia using the capsaicin pain model, 2) the identification of a cellular mechanism responsible for the disinhibition of PKCγ neurons by recative oxygen species (ROS) that leads to the transformation of touch into pain, 3) the identification of several neuronal populations that participate in the persistent pain network and 4) the concept that multiple spinal microcircuits encode mechanical hypersensitivity with their own signature role in facilitating the pain depending on the type of insult. Currently, we combine opto/pharmacogenetics, behavior analysis, patch-clamp electrophysiology, cell biology, viral tracings and 2-photon calcium imaging to investigate the anatomical and functional organization of the neuronal circuits engaged in chronic pain, including those in the dorsal horn, but also their dynamics and the conditions of their recruitment.
